A lot has changed since I built my first greenhouse more than 25 years ago. I have always enjoyed working in the garden and figuring out how things grow; yet, I never had the time to dedicate to gardening until I became physically unable to continue my profession. I was in the floor-covering profession for 27 years and experienced back problems.

I built a hobby greenhouse to start my vegetable and flower seeds. I soon realized I had bug issues and overall plant-health problems. I wanted natural solutions; however, I was not satisfied with the answers I was given.

The market was saturated with non-natural solutions and would have created an easy fix, but I wanted to stay true to nature and use
all-natural solutions. So I began deep research into information dating back to the 1800s in hopes of finding an answer to my problems.

Over time, I have found more answers than I could ever have imagined about how plants thrive and how their needs can be accommodated by natural solutions. In that era (1800s), we found research that identified carbon dioxide as an agent that made plants more productive and healthy.
I used my new-found knowledge and put it through numerous trials and errors. After 15 years of research, I developed natural formulas that I have used in my greenhouse and garden.
I began bottling my concoctions in old bottles and jars with handwritten labels and started giving them to friends to use.

We started with standard nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium -- ingredients in commercial fertilizer -- and then we added a source of carbon. We got a tremendous response.
Everyone who used what I gave them came back and raved about how wonderfully it worked. To me, it was no surprise because Mother Nature gives us everything needed to sustain life; it is up to us humans to use it resourcefully and responsibly.
Luckily, times have changed, and growing, eating and living in a more environmentally friendly way are more accessible and more appreciated.

Myths have come about that all-natural gardening costs more, is ineffective or takes more physical effort.

That is not true. I urge all to find natural solutions when approaching lawn and garden issues.

The greenhouse I built more than 25 years ago has developed into a business called Organi-Gro

(
www.organi-gro.com) sells all- natural fertilizers and soil enhancers.
